About Entrepreneurs Club
The Entrepreneurs Club is an after school program for middle school students that was co-founded by Jackson Crawford and Jack Crawford at Sacramento Country Day School. Modeled after a graduate program on entrepreneurship, the program includes 10 learning modules that cover topics like market research, product development, marketing, sales, finance, and fundraising to transform ideas into products — and products into companies. Following 10 weeks of mentoring, students assemble their product ideas into presentable new companies. As the capstone for the program, a year end “Showcase” event including 100+ parents, teachers, and friends to participate in a live trade show environment giving students an opportunity to sell “customers” on their products in a face to face setting. Finally the Showcase event culminates with a pitch contest from the main stage where the student teams compete for audience votes and cash prizes.
In 2014, Jackson Crawford co-founded the Entrepreneurs club with his dad Jack for the middle school at Sacramento Country Day. For four years, the father-son team have collaborated to help students guide their big ideas into products and present them as new companies.
In 2018 as a high school student, Jackson began playing a leadership role for the program as the moderator and mentor for the clubs weekly learning modules. Beyond mentoring the middle school students and creating weekly presentations, Jackson also emceed the year end Showcase Event.
With the suppport of Sacramento Country Day School and Social Venture Partners foundation, Jackson and his father now have plans in 2019 to expand the program and Showcase event to include other local middle schools for the 10 weeks of learning modules and the year end Showcase event.
